A message from the Principal:
Please allow me to tell you about Cowan Jr. / Sr. High School. We are located about six miles from downtown Muncie, in southern Delaware County. Although we are a small suburban school we have enjoyed considerable academic and athletic success. Our current enrollment is approximately 370 students in grades 7 through 12. We are proud of our commitment to academic success.
We strive to offer worthwhile and varied curriculum opportunities for our students. We currently have Advanced Placement (AP) classes, dual credit classes and offer the opportunity for students to attend Ball State or Ivy Tech to earn college credits. A well-rounded education, provided in a caring and concerned atmosphere is the cornerstone of our school. At Cowan, we really do care about each other. Our faculty, staff and parents are committed to proving the best possible educational and social experiences for our students.
Our band and choir programs are highly respected and have been very successful over the past few years. The numbers in both groups are rising quickly. Our Key Club, Student Council and National Honor Society are very active and involved in several community service projects every year.
In recent history we have had our softball, baseball and volleyball teams at the state finals. After multiple trips to the finals, our volleyball team won the 2012 Class A State Championship. It was a first state title for Cowan.

A Message from the Athletic Director/Asst. Principal:
Participation in athletics as a student is a privilege. With this privilege comes a level of expectation and responsibility. It is the hope of Cowan Jr/Sr High School that our student-athletes will obtain a dual education while participating in sports. Not only will they be held to our high academic standards, but the life-skills they will obtain by being part of a team will better prepare them for life after graduation. As a member of Cowan athletics, it is important that students realize they represent themselves, their families, their team, Cowan Jr/Sr High, and our community. Any actions that tarnish our image of respect will be dealt with accordingly. Additionally, we hope parents will aide in this effort as well as being positive supports of our programs and help their students learn and grow through the athletes experience.
