Welcome to the Cowan Elementary Library Web page! I am excited to be back for my 26th year at Cowan Elementary! I love this community and the people in it. I have raised two children here and both are in the educational field. Katie Clark is the Media Specialist at Jay County High School and Robby Craig works at the Madison County Youth Center while working on a degree in elementary education.

I chose to be a librarian when I was in elementary school. I received my Bachelor's degree in School Media Services at Ball State University and my Master's in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University.

I love our new library! You may have seen it during Back to School night the first week of school. It feels so new and spacious! We have expanded our reading area and while it is used during library class, others may use it when library classes are not in session.

We credit Box Tops for Education and Scholastic Book Fairs for the fun things in our library and reading area. We have just purchased several new beanbags for the kids to use for silent reading.  Also, each year students receive at least one free book to KEEP from our Scholastic Dollars which are supported by parents, teachers and students.

Speaking of Box Tops, we encourage you to save those Box Tops for this year's PIE THROW. We want to make it a record year for pies as a celebration of Mr. Bruce's last pie throw.  :)

We had a successful Fall Book Fair this year!  We collaborated with PTO on their Ice Cream and Ideas night to reach out to our community and introduce Clifford the Big Red Dog to those attending the Book Fair.  Sales for the fair were over $5,000 and will earn our school more than $2,000 in Scholastic Dollars to spend on books, beanbags and other fun items for our school and our kids! Thanks to everyone who supported us!

Next up is Pie Throw in October. Look for more information HERE!
